Two New Con for West Virginia
Two new cons are coming to Huntington, West Virginia this year. Jewel City Con, a gaming con, and Tri-State Comic Con (Tri-Con), a comic convention.
Jewel City Con

Jewel City Con, named after Huntington’s nickname of Jewel City, will be a three day board game con on April 13th through the 15th at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena.
There will be plenty of Euro-style board games there. The plan is for everyone to also bring their own games to share with everyone. There will also be a pizza party and horror costume contest on Friday, game exchange on Saturday, and final tournament games on Saturday. This is looking to be very social gaming geared event for people to relax and meet new people. They are arrange games for younger kids to make the con kid friendly. There will also be a room for vendors and miniatures set ups.
The cost will be $15 for the weekend, $10 just for Saturday, and free for kids 10 and under.
So far the con only has a Facebook page.
Tri-State Comic Con

The Tri-State Comic Con, Tri-Con for short, is a comic convention to be held on June 9, 2012 also in the Big Sandy Superstore Arena in Huntington, WV.
Guests for the con listed so far include Beau Smith, local comic writer who has worked for several different companies and on several different comics. Billy Tucci creator of Shi and known for his work on war comics such as Sgt. Rock and Star Spangled War Stories. Jim Calafiore artist on Exiles, Aquaman, Deadpool, Gotham Underground, and Super Six. Dennis Calero illustrator on such titles as X-Men Noir, Star Trek, 28 Days Later, Dark Tower, and Cowboys & Aliens. James Patrick writer on Angel, Star Trek, Batman Confidential, and a recent run on Green Arrow. Tommy Patterson artist on such comics as Farscape, Tales from Wonderland, and recently Dynamite’s Game of Thrones.
Exhibitors for the con are illustrator Kurt Einhaus, artist and painter Mike Maydak, small-press publisher Nowhere Comics, Rusty Shackles of Great Comics That Never Happened, Michael Mayne co-creator of Bonnie Lass.
Registration for attendees is not up yet, but has stated will be on the cheap side, but vendors and exhibitors can register now.
