Clockwork Wonderland 2011 was a one-day steampunk event and music fest sponsored by Marquis of Vaudville. Check out this report from the event, along with photos of all the festivities!

I have to admit I have been meaning to attend Reni’s Maid and Cosplay Cafe since I first stumbled upon Reni Mimura at Zenkaikon over a year ago, and found out she regularly threw these events at the Village in New York. Since my birthday was coming up and I was looking for something fun to do, I decided to make the trip up from Philadelphia on the Bolt bus and celebrate it with my favorite Japanese idol living in New York and see what her take on the Japanese maid cafe phenomenon would be.

Per the information on the Galveston Historical Society’s Website: “Dickens on The Strand is a holiday festival, where Bobbies, Beefeaters, and the Queen (Victoria) …recreate the Victorian London of Charles Dickens. Characters from Dickens novels walk the street. Food and entertainment fill the area with sights and smells that take you back to another era.”

Okay, you’ve got the present. Now the only thing left is to make it all mysterious and pretty with some gift wrap. But wait, blue stars or jolly reindeer just aren’t good enough when you’re giving that great geeky gift. That package needs pizazz.

December 3 has been declared Stare Dramatically Into the Distance During the Middle of a Sentence Day. You’ve all seen it done… Someone is talking. To add dramatic emphasis, they gaze off into the distance… Well, now it’s our turn. We get to be as awesome as the numerous people who stare into the distance. You will then be able to count yourself among Orlando Bloom, Batman, the dude from CSI Miami, Elphaba from Wicked and countless other awesome people.
