SDCC is an Area of Affect type event. Here’s a quick look at some pictures of the excitement around Comic-Con in the surrounding area.

Waiting is part of the convention. There are lines for everything from panels to badge pickup. Today though, I did a lot of waiting.

Knoxville Anime and Comic Convention in Tennessee (guess the city yourself) was a pretty fun weekend for me. On Saturday there were over 600 people to come through the doors of this little show. I have to say I meet a bunch of friendly people at this con. Everyone was willing to open up and talk with you.

The convention was much more crowded than I recall it being last time I went 3 years ago. This is something I’ve noticed about conventions as a whole, and something Stacey (another contributor to this blog) and I mentioned on our coverage of the New York Comic Con. I chalk it up to Hollywood and the recent success of comic book movies. Finally, after all these years, it’s cool to be a geek. We’re geek chic now!

This past weekend we sent intrepid Convention Fans Blog photographer Joey DeMarco to Wizard World Philly, Philadelphia’s largest fandom convention. He took hundreds of photos while he was at the convention, and we’re happy to present some of our favorites to you here!
