Horror Realm is planning a Summer of Scares for horror fans in the Pittsburgh and surrounding area to whet appetites for its fall convention. There will be many cool events in the middle of a hot summer, including 12 Weeks of Horror.

Fieldcon is an annual camping con put on by the same people who do Anime Punch. The idea is to try and expand the concept of an anime convention by taking it outdoors. It is the first outdoor anime con. Other fandoms have had their own outdoor/camping cons, so now it is anime’s turn. It will be held July 1-3 of this year.

Tolkien Moot, formerly MerpCon, has firmed on their 2011 dates and location; the event will now be in July instead of June.

Half the fan conventions this weekend are here in the Southwest region; from TrekExpo in Oklahoma to CombatCon in Nevada.

This family friendly celebration of monster films from the silent movie era through the 1950s has a vampire theme for June, 2011.
