Welcome to the New Home of The Convention Fans Blog!

31 December 2009 by

As you can probably tell, The Convention Fans Blog now has a new home! For the past year or so, Convention Fans was hosted by Today.com. The archives for the blog’s 2008-2009 year will continue to be hosted there, as per my original exclusivity contract with them.

That being said, The Convention Fans Blog has moved here to it’s own URL. Sort of. Here at this URL you’ll see a post for each new blog entry just like before (with the same kind of content as before). However, you may notice with some articles that the “read more” link takes you to a full version over at  Alltern8.com.

Why you ask? Because Alltern8.com has graciously agreed to host large articles and other original content in full for The Convention Fans Blog. The reason? Sometimes articles from this blog get picked up by rather large web sites, and they end up getting a great deal of traffic. Alltern8.com is more than capable of handling such a barrage. That, and Alltern8.com is awesome and has a lot of other content convention goers may be interested in, such as articles on comics, MMOs, tabletop games, LARPs, PC and console games, cosplay, and memorabilia.

To kick off this re-launch of The Convention Fans Blog, we’ll be posting an interview with Mystery Science Theater 3000‘s Joel Hodgson, who recently did a live New Yea’rs Eve show with his new comedy troupe, Cinematic Titanic. In the interview, Joel discusses the weirdest thing he was ever sent while at MST3k, what recent movie he thought was a “hack job”, and whether or not he can turn off his “inner critic” and enjoy movies at home like a regular guy. Be sure to come back tomorrow to read the interview!

Thanks again to all of our readers for their support over the last year! We hope you like the new site, and hope you will continue to support us in the years to come.

Happy New Year! Here’s to a great 2010!
