Press Release: Peelander-Z Named Naka-Kon 2010 Musical Guest of Honor
Kansas City, Mo.– New York City-based band Peelander-Z will perform at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center in February as Naka-Kon 2010’s musical guest of honor.
Peelander-Z’s three members are known simply as Peelander-Red, Peelander-Yellow and Peelander-Green. Performances by the “Japanese action comic punk band” feature extensive audience participation and interaction.
“Do human bowling with us. Do limbo dancing with us. Do karaoke competition with us. Hit our cowbell with us,” said Peelander-Yellow.
Fresh off its World Health Tour in Japan, Peelander-Z formed in 1998 and has performed at music festivals such as Bonnaroo, CMJ and SXSW. The band has also been featured on VH1, Comedy Central and Anime Network.
Naka-Kon will continue to announce guests of honor as the convention nears.
Naka-Kon Anime Convention is organized and operated by approximately 80 uncompensated staff members, many of whom are students and most of whom live in the greater Kansas City area. Naka-Kon was first held in 2005 at the University of Kansas Memorial Union
in Lawrence, Kan. In 2009, nearly 3,000 attendees gathered at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center for a three-day, paid convention. Naka-Kon 2010 will be held at the Hyatt between February 19 and 21. Traditional features include industry guests, panels, game shows, contests, showings rooms, a vendor room and a video game room. For more information, visit http://naka-kon.com.
