Press Release: Zenkaikon Announces Game Show Guru Greg Wicker and Opening of Panel Submissions

14 June 2010 by

VALLEY FORGE, PENNSYLVANIA — June 13, 2010: Zenkaikon is pleased to announce its first guest for its 2011 convention, Greg “Greggo” Wicker, famous for running a variety of game shows at conventions across the country. It is also announcing the opening of panel submissions for its event.

Greg Wicker (or “Greggo” as he’s fondly known) has been producing and hosting game shows at anime conventions since 1999, when he premiered Anime Match Game at Project A-Kon in Dallas. Since then, Greggo has done anime-themed versions of several classic game shows, and even had an original project that very nearly turned into an actual television show on Anime Network. These days Greggo is concentrating on perfecting his craft and making game shows available for conventions everywhere, bringing his rapier wit and friendly personality with him wherever he goes. He calls his production company “For Randy Entertainment,” named after a dear friend that succumbed to throat cancer nearly a decade ago.

You can see some of Greggo’s past game show efforts on his YouTube page at http://www.youtube.com/gregdasgo or visit his website at http://www.4randy.com.

Panel submissions are now open for Zenkaikon V, taking place on March 18-20, 2011. The end of the regular period for submitting a panel is December 13, 2010. Anyone wishing to submit a panel for consideration for Zenkaikon V can do so by completing the panel application on the Zenkaikon website.

Since 2006, Zenkaikon  has been bringing quality Japanese animation (anime), comics (manga), and popular culture themed events to the Philadelphia area. The convention is staffed completely by volunteers, who want to share their appreciation for these mediums with the Philadelphia region. Zenkaikon features a variety of activities including anime and live action screenings, video and tabletop gaming, special guests, costume competitions, panels, concerts, vendors, and more. Starting as a small one-day event, the convention has grown rapidly to welcome nearly two thousand attendees in 2009. The Zenkaikon staff wishes to thank all the attendees who have supported and helped it grow over the years. They look forward to building an event that will be an integral part of the region’s culture for many years to come. More information on Zenkaikon is available at http://www.zenkaikon.com.
