You know, there are fandom conventions for just about everything. Even bacon. Yes, a group in Columbus, Ohio has announced a brand new convention dedicated to geek culture and technology, and bacon, and they have appropriately titled it “Ba-Con.” It is scheduled for July 8th-10th, 2011 at the Ramada Plaza Hotel & Conference Center.

From the organizers:

Ba-Con (pronounced BEY-kahn) is a general geek/cyberculture convention seasoned with a bit of trade show and packaged in a fun, tasty bacon exterior. Ba-Con is for open-source tech enthusiasts, late-night gamers, bacon lovers, Twitter fanatics, YouTube video producers, makers, hobbyists, hackers, and all geeks in between. Ba-Con is simultaneously going to be about the underlying social media outlets that bring “all of us geeks” together and the celebration of those particular interests.

Guests for Ba-Con 2011 include Matt Sloan and Aaron Yonda of Blame Society Productions (of Chad Vader fame), J.C. Brazil (aka JC or Lunch Lady Steve), and James Hatton (webcomic creator). More guests will be announced at the convention gets closer.

One of the events at Ba-Con will be The Big Bacon Brunch. For $20, guests will be treated to a buffet of breakfast and lunch items, along with “some special bacon treats”. The convention guests of honor will also be in attendance.

Tickets for Ba-Con 2011 are currently $20 for the entire weekend. This is an early bird special price, and it will go up at the convention draws closer. Online registration via PayPal will be available soon.
