Knoxville Anime & Comic Con is June 18-19 at the Holiday Inn Cedar Bluff in Knoxville, Tennessee. The hours for the show are 10am-6pm on Saturday and 11am-4pm on Sunday.
The con is one of the many different ones run by Comic City. It is an autograph and collectible con that tries to provide a good environment for fans. They are bringing both some interesting guests and various dealers to the show.
The main attraction for the con is their guests. They have both the voices of Zim and GIR from Invader Zim. Roseariki Rikki Simons is the voice of GIR, plus he is an artist who worked on Jhonen Vasquez’s I Feel Sick, plus his own creations Shutterbox and co-creator of the Robotech: Clones comic series.
They also have voice actor Eric Stuart who was the voices of Brock, James, and various Pokemon for ten years, Seto in Yu-Gi-Oh!, the original Gourry in Slayers, and others such as One Piece, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and G.I. Joe Sigma 6. He will also be doing a free acoustic concert on Saturday night. Mellissa Cown of AMC’s Walking Dead, who was the bicycle zombie in the park, she also appears in The Vampire Chronicles. Admission to the con is only $5 each day (meaning $10 for the weekend). UT students can get in on Saturday with their UT ID for $3. On Sunday two kids under six get in free with one adult pass and military, police, and firemen get $1 off admission too. Parking for the con will be free too. On Saturday they plan to give away a door prize worth $50 every half hour. The first 100 people to show up on Saturday will receive a free trade paper back and on Sunday the first 100 will get a free poster.
Though the show looks to be more focused on meeting guests they do have a few events planned. On Saturday there will be a film festival showing fan films, anime, and others. There will be a Q/A session with Eric Stuart at 1pm and at 3pm an Invader Zim Q/A session with Richard and Roseariki. On Sunday they have a comic trivia contest. The con is running a costume contest both days. There are three different categories: anime/manga, movie/TV, and Super Hero. The winners of each category will receive a $500 prize back. The judges for the contest will be the dealers at the show.
