Press Release: “Laura Spencer” to Appear in May 2010
Genie Francis to Attend Phoenix Comicon
April 1, 2010 Phoenix, Ariz.—Genie Francis, actress and former star of soap opera General Hospital, will attend Phoenix Comicon 2010 with her husband, actor Jonathan Frakes.
Francis’ acting career took off with her role on American daytime drama General Hospital. Her character, Laura Spencer, helped make General Hospital one of the most popular television serials in the world. Laura Spencer’s wedding to Luke Spencer was the highest-rated hour of soap opera history.
“After Genie, television was never the same,” said Anabel Martinez, Director of Marketing. “Luke and Laura were the greatest couple in TV history. She’s an icon and having her at Comicon is going to be amazing.”
Francis also appeared in soap operas Days of Our Lives, All My Children, and Loving. Her current work includes the Hallmark Channel movie The Note, which remains one of the highest rated films for that channel. In 2007, she won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in Drama Series for General Hospital.
“Genie and her husband gave up their anniversary plans to come to Phoenix Comicon,” said Convention Director Matt Solberg. “But I know they aren’t going to regret it. Their fans are so excited to see and celebrate with them.”
