Reminder: Shore Leave 32 is Almost Here!

Last year one of my favorite conventions was Shore Leave. It was a nice mid-sized con that offered a great mix of science fiction and actual science programming, along with interesting celebrity Q&As, and vendors. Shore Leave is a fan-run convention held in Baltimore, Maryland (USA). It is happening July 9-11, 2010 at the Marriott’s Hunt Valley Inn.

The guest list for Shore Leave 32 includes Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica’s Adm. William Adama), Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica’s Capt. Kara “Starbuck”), Torri Higginson (Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis’ Dr. Elizabeth Weir), Kevin Sorbo (Hercules: The Legendary Journeys’ Hercules; Andromeda’s Capt. Dylan Hunt), Dominic Keating (Enterprise’s Malcolm Reed), and Catherine Hicks (ST:IV Voyage Home’s Dr. Gillian Taylor). Bill Dow has had to cancel his appearance. There is also an impressive list of authors, scientists, and more.

Pre-registration has closed for Shore Leave 32. However, tickets will be available at the door. That being said, this convention has an attendance cap of 1,500.

At-the-door tickets cost:

  • Weekend: $85
  • Friday Only: $30
  • Saturday Only: $60 (includes Masquerade and Ten-Forward)
  • Saturday Evening Only: $15 – For admission to Masquerade (viewing attendance) and Ten Forward only. To participate in the Masquerade you must have at least a full Saturday membership.
  • Sunday Only: $40
  • Children (5-12): $20
  • Children (under 5): Free with paying adult

Don’t miss out on this great fan-run convention!

She started attending fandom conventions back in Orlando, Florida when she was just a teenager. Now based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she’s exploring all the tri-state area has to offer. While she’ll attend just about any convention out of sheer curiosity, at heart she’s mostly a Star Trek fan looking to meet every major cast member from each series. She’s getting closer to that goal than she ever thought possible.

That Saturday including Masquerade deal is way cheaper than many other cons… not bad. The children pricing/free under 5 rule is pretty considerate also. I’d like to get to this con in the future.
