Ghost stories around the camp fire make summer an ideal time for ghost stories and other general scariness. July has several horror and monster conventions, proving that horror events aren’t just for October.
Days of the Dead
- When: July 1-3, 2011
- Where: Indianapolis, Indiana
- What: New for 2011. Horror convention.
BlobFest
- When: July 8-10, 2011
- Where: Phoenixville, Pennsylvania
- What: Three day event in commemoration of ’50s film classic The Blob. Includes screenings of The Blob and other horror classics, re-enactment of the theater running-out sequence, competitions and a street fair.
G-Fest
- When: July 9-11, 2011
- Where: Des Plaines, Illinois
- What: Dedicated to Japanese monster fandom and held by the online magazine G-Fan.
Fright Night Film Fest
- When: July 22-24, 2011
- Where: Louisville, Kentucky
- What: Film festival and convention. Teamed up with FandomFest for 2011.
Horror Realm’s Summer of Scares
- When: July 6-September 21, 2011
- Where: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
- What: A series of summertime events organized by Horror Realm; 12 Weeks of Horror, Horror Author Series, Basket Case Night featuring Beverly Bonner, and more.
