Press Release: Horror Realm Week & Horror Realm Convention Coming Up Sept 13-19

Only 8 days until Horror Realm, Pittsburgh’s modern horror convention, opens the doors on its second year! But we have activities and events all next week leading up to the convention, beginning next Monday. Horror Realm is September 17-19, 2010 at the Crowne Plaza Pittsburgh South in Pittsburgh, PA.

Hugo and Nebula Award-winning writer David Gerrold joins other best-selling science fiction, fantasy, and horror authors at the Stone Hill Science Fiction Association’s 29th annual NecronomiCon, at the Hilton Bayfront St. Petersburg this October 22, 23, and 24. Memberships are $50 for all three days. Single-day memberships are $25 for Friday or Saturday, and $20 for Sunday.

Horror Realm, Pittsburgh’s modern horror convention, honors the area’s horror roots with a screening of the documentaryAutopsy of the Dead. Autopsy of the Dead is a historical documentary which was produced to preserve the memories of the production of Night of the Living Dead through interviews with cast and crew of George Romero’s horror masterpiece. The documentary was produced by Jim Cirronella and directed by Jeff Carney.

This past weekend I ventured out to Valley Forge, Pennsylvania (USA) for the 2010 National Halloween and Haunters Convention. It was held April 29 – May 2, 2010 at the Valley Forge Convention Center. This event aimed to strike a balance between industry only expo shows, and fandom conventions geared towards the public. Did it succeed? Well, for the most part, yes!
