Live the Zombie Apocalypse at Comic-Con with the Walking Dead Escape
Heads up fans of zombie apocalypses! The Walking Dead Escape obstacle course will be in town the week of San Diego Comic-Con, July 19-20 (SDCC 2013 is July 18-21) at PetCo Park.
The baseball stadium’s area, conveniently located at the eastern edge of the San Diego Convention Center, will turn into a Walking Dead themed zombie outbreak survival event. My favorite part is that you can be a zombie/Walker, a Survivor, or just watch. And there are a variety of areas based on the television show; Evacuation Zone, Prison Gauntlet, Hospital Hell, Herd Highway, Quarantine, etc.
If you want to wander the Escape experience as a Survivor, the ticket will set you back $75 for 30-50 minutes of zombie apocalypse survival action. If you prefer to join the shambling hordes as a Walker, you’re $75 gets you a professional zombie makeup job and about 2.5 hours to wander the course (hey, zombies are slow). If you prefer to just watch, a Spectator ticket is $20 and gets you a ‘seat’ at the Escape Party with snacks and photo ops. If you’re REALLY into being zombified, there’s a Horde Hero package for $150 that gets you an extended make up job, Walker training, and the run of the obstacle course for as long as you please. ‘Waves’ are run every 15 minutes and go from 5pm-10pm.
If you can’t make the San Diego event, or you’re on the East Coast and can’t wait until July, the Walking Dead Escape will be in Philadelphia this Sunday, April 21.
