Our Picks for Must See Friday Programming at San Diego Comic-Con 2010

16 July 2010 by

SDCC LogoEvery year we cry a little bit about not making it out to California for San Diego Comic-Con International (or SDCC for short). We’re a bunch of East Coast con-goers here at The Convention Fans Blog, and SDCC is happening July 22 – 25 at the San Diego Convention Center. Even though we won’t be attending SDCC 2010, we have looked over the schedule and created a list of “must see” events and panels that we would attend if we were there. Since that programming list so incredibly long, we’re breaking down these recommendations into specific days. So without further ado, here is The Convention Fans Blog List of Must See Friday Programming at San Diego Comic-Con 2010. (Read our Thursday recommendations here.)

10:15-11:15 Aloha, Earth!— In case you haven’t noticed, most of us are pretty big Star Trek fans here at The Convention Fans Blog. With executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek) on this panel, it’d be a no brainer for us to stake out a good spot for this panel. Other panelists include executive producer Peter M. Lenkov (24), director Len Wiseman (Underworld), and stars Daniel Dae Kim (Lost) and Grace Park (Battlestar Galactica). Location: Room 6BCF

10:30-11:30 Stargate Universe— Kelly never considered herself much of a Stargate fan, but she’s recently become quite enamored with Stargate Universe. This panel features Robert Carlyle (Dr. Nicholas Rush), David Blue (Eli Wallace), Ming Na (Camile Wray), and Louis Ferreira (Colonel Everett Young), and is moderated by Robert Cooper (series co-creator). Location: Ballroom 20

11:00-12:00 Costume Designers: Designing for TV Production— Many con-goers are also cosplayers and costumers. This would be a panel we recommend for those folks. Moderator Kristin Burke, Costume Designer, a Member of the Costume Designers Guild, Local 892, and creator of her own Costume Design website “Frocktalk.com”, hosts Costume Designers from CDG, local 892: Audrey Fisher (True Blood), Ane Crabtree (Justified), Shawna Trpcic (Firefly), Pamela Shaw (Assistant Designer, Vampire Diaries), Jennifer Eve (Assistant Designer, Glee). Location: Room 32AB

12:45-1:45 The Big Bang Theory— We love Wil Wheaton. We love The Big Bang Theory. This panel should be epic. Producers and casts from The Big Bang Theory return to Comic-Con with a special screening and Q&A featuring the show’s creators and stars. Wil Wheaton (Star Trek: The Next Generation and BBT guest star) will moderate a talk featuring executive producers Chuck Lorre (Two and a Half Men) and Bill Prady (Dharma & Greg), as well as series stars Johnny Galecki (Roseanne), Jim Parsons (Garden State), Kaley Cuoco (Charmed), Simon Helberg (Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story), and Kunal Nayyar (NCIS). Location: Ballroom 20

1:00-2:00 Super— Nathan Fillion is just all over San Diego Comic-Con 2010. Here he is on another panel, this time with writer/director James Gunn (Slither), stars Rainn Wilson (The Office), Liv Tyler (Lord of the Rings), and Michael Rooker (Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer), and producers Ted Hope (Adventureland) and Miranda Bailey (The Squid and the Whale), to show footage of their new project Super. Location: Hall H

2:00-3:00 Spotlight on Stan Lee— Does this really need a justification for being on a “Must See” list? It’s Stan freakin’ Lee people. Location: Room 6BCF

3:00-3:45 The Joss Whedon Experience— So many of these speak for themselves. Joss Whedon, the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Dollhouse, and Serenity, will be giving fans a look at what he’s up to. Expect spoilers, warns SDCC’s schedule. Location: Ballroom 20

4:00-6:00 Sony Pictures Entertainment: The Other Guys, The Green Hornet, and Priest— Talk about a star studded panel! This will include Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, Eva Mendes, and co-writer/director Adam McKay; Seth Rogen, director Michel Gondry, writer Evan Goldberg, producer Neal Moritz, and actor Christoph Waltz; and Paul Bettany, Karl Urban, Maggie Q, Cam Gigandet, Stephen Moyer, and director Scott Stewart. Location: Hall H

5:15-6:15 True Blood Panel and Q&A session— That’s right, two mega-panels are up during this time slot. If the Sony panel isn’t your thing, Convention Fans Blog contributor Tara would be joining you at this one for True Blood. Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Nelsan Ellis, Sam Trammell, Rutina Wesley, Deborah Ann Woll, Kristin Bauer van Straten, Denis O’Hare, and Joe Manganiello will all be appearing. Location: Ballroom 20

6:00-7:00 Archer— Dan would totally be at this panel. He’s a big Archer fan (and it’s growing on Kelly). Creator and executive producer Adam Reed (Sealab 2021, Frisky Dingo) will be screening selected scenes from the show, and he’ll then take questions from the audience with Aisha Tyler, who provides the voice of Agent Lana Kane. Location: Room 7AB

6:30-7:30 TV Guide Magazine: The 2010 Hot List— Comic-Con is really bringing out the celebs these days. This panel will feature Morena Baccarin (V), Brannon Braga (Terra Nova, Flash Forward), Michael Chiklis (No Ordinary Family), Morris Chestnut (V), Keith David (The Cape), Zachary Levi (Chuck), David Lyons (The Cape), Chi McBride (Human Target), Elizabeth Mitchell (V), and others to be announced! Location: Ballroom 20

7:00-8:00 RiffTrax Live— Remember MST3k? If you liked Mike more than Joel, this event is for you. Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett are returning to Comic-Con to perform RiffTrax (their newest project) live! Location: Room 6DE
