Official East Coast Star Trek Convention Happening Next Month
For those of us on the East Coast, making it out to Creation Entertainment’s big Star Trek convention in Las Vegas is a bit difficult. Fortunately, there is an official East Coast convention held annually in New Jersey. The Official East Coast Star Trek Convention is taking place August 13 – 15, 2010 at the Hilton Parsippany. And I am happy to report that I will be there on Saturday to cover the convention for those of you who can’t make it to that one either.
On the guest list is everyone’s favorite cat-suit-wearing Borg, Jeri Ryan, along with George Takei (TOS’ Sulu), Armin Shimerman (DS9′s Quark), Nana Visitor (DS9′s Kira), Jennifer Lien (Voyager’s Kes), Jeffrey Combs (DS9/ENT repeat guest star), Max Grodenchik (DS9′s Rom), Casey Biggs (DS9′s Damar), Ethan Phillips (Voyager’s Nelix) and Vaughn Armstrong (Enterprise’s Admiral Forrest).
Gold Weekend Package tickets are still available for purchase. The Gold Weekend Package cost $369 and includes autographs from select guests, reserved seats in the main theater, admission to the cocktail and dessert party, admission to the cabaret show, early vendor access, and a wristband access and collectible lanyard. Other packages are also available, including the preferred weekend package ($179), general admission weekend ticket ($64) and preferred and general single-day tickets, which range in price from $20 to $50 a day.
Some of the events on the schedule for the Official East Coast Star Trek Convention include a special “Rat Pack” cabaret performance featuring Max Grodenchik, Vaughn Armstrong, Casey Biggs, Armin Shimerman, and Jeffrey Combs; the Star Trek Music Video Competition, the centerpiece contest, a costume parade, and a special dessert and cocktail party. Again, the show and party are included in the Gold Weekend Package ticket. Tickets to the Rat Pack show are available to other ticket holders for $15 if purchased in advance, or $20 at the door.
