VALLEY FORGE, PENNSYLVANIA — June 13, 2010: Zenkaikon is pleased to announce its first guest for its 2011 convention, Greg “Greggo” Wicker, famous for running a variety of game shows at conventions across the country. It is also announcing the opening of panel submissions for its event.

Even though I moved to Philadelphia from Orlando just over two years ago, I had never gotten around to attending the Philadelphia Comic Con (typically referred to as “Wizard World Philly”). Bubonicon 42 is a science fiction and fantasy convention taking place at The Albuquerque Grand (Sheraton) Airport Hotel in New Mexico, from August 27-29, 2010. Douglas Adams’ “Life, the Universe and Everything” is the inspiration and theme for 2010′s Bubonicon 42. So bring a towel!

Can’t Stop The Serenity is a worldwide event that is held in order to raise money for the charity Equality Now and other local charities in the cities which have screenings. I recently got an e-mail from someone behind Can’t Stop The Serenity Des Moines, who asked me if I’d give a shout out to the event here on the blog. Given my love for Serenity/Firefly and good causes, I knew I had to write something about it.

Looking for something to do this weekend? Believe it or not, almost every weekend there are dozens of fandom conventions occurring all over the world. Some are large corporate-run “official” conventions that may be hard to get into on short notice, and some are tiny fan-run conventions that would probably love to have a few more people show up.
