PhauxCon is a great event held annually in downtown Philadelphia. Spend a few days sharing your fandom, laughing, learning, making new friends, and expanding your horizons, all for just $20. I attended in 2009, and it was easily one of my favorite conventions of the entire year.

Anime Expo 2011 Offers Buy 1 Registration Get 1 Half Off Sale

We were tipped off to a great sale happening over at the website for Anime Expo 2011. Anime Expo is a giant anime convention held annually in Los Angeles. In 2011 it will be on July 1 – 4 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Steamcon II Convention to Celebrate “American Steampunk”

When you think of steampunk, a lot of Victorian (i.e. British) imagery and influences probably come to mind. One steampunk convention, however, has decided that the theme for its 2010 convention should be the “Weird Weird West,” which they have also called “American steampunk.”

Cast from the Horror Flick Human Centipede to Appear at Big Apple Comic Con

For those who were living under a rock when Human Centipede came out, it’s about a bunch of people who get sewn together butt to mouth. Wizard Entertainment, who runs Big Apple Comic Con, calls Human Centipede a “biological horror movie.” Nice euphemism, Wizard.

Whedon Fest Cancelled Just Three Weeks Before Convention

Sorry Joss Whedon fans, Whedon Fest has been cancelled. It was originally scheduled to be held in Toronto, Canada, on October 1 – 3, 2010. At least attendees who paid are getting a refund, which is surprising. Many conventions that fold this close to the event aren’t as lucky (like in the JumpCon fiasco from a few years back).
