This past weekend was Zenkaikon 2011, a Pennsylvania anime convention that just completed its fifth year. On the guest list for Zenkaikon 2011 was Vic Mignogna, along with Todd Haberkorn, comedian Uncle Yo, writer CJ Henderson, and Japanese band Rose Noire (making their US debut). Calling all Victorians, Neo-Victorians, airship captains, goths, vamps, counter culturists, artists, musicians, and anyone interested in what one may call an “alternative” lifestyle! (Boy is that a mouthful.) This weekend is “The Alternative Living Expo.”

Who said you can’t make money in fandom? Clearly whoever said such tings has’t heard about the amazing prizes being offered up at Anime Expo 2011. Anime Expo, the largest anime and manga convention in North America, attracts tens of thousands of costumed fans each year. And for 2011, there will be $25,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs, to celebrate the convention’s 20th anniversary.

Steampunk conventions are getting more and more popular, which means one could soon be coming to a city near you! For those of you in the south east United States, there’s AnachroCon, an Atlanta, Georgia steampunk convention.
