Heidi Wunder is just as her name suggests…a wonder! She not only performs and teaches Tribal Belly Dance, but also lives the concepts that she teaches. She has a deep love of music, dance, nature, and of people. She brought all this and more to the stage on June 4th as the fictional “Delegate” from Persia in a supporting role in a “steampunk” Murder Mystery Play at a new Texas convention called the “Difference Engine” in Fort Worth, Texas.

Interview with the Absinthe Minded Professors
I was recently given the privilege to interview one of my absolute favorite steampunk performance art troupes, the Absinthe Minded Professors. I expected it to include more than a few surprising, and possibly even baffling, responses as they are routinely as eccentric as they are entertaining and talented. They did not disappoint!

Airship Isabella – A Candid Interview About Their Origins and Future Plans
Airship Isabella has become quite a sensation as a Steampunk Performance Art Airship in Texas, the surrounding states, and at many conventions throughout the country. This has happened in an amazingly short amount of time through hard work and consistent effort to perform and spend time with fans at all the conventions. They also are willing to go to conventions too remote to generally receive a visit from say, “The League of Steam”.

An Interview with Eric L. Watts, Founder of TrekTrax Atlanta (Part 3)
This is part 3 of an interview with Eric L. Watts, who previously ran Star Trek programming for Dragon*con. As many are probably aware by now, Watts was not asked to return to Dragon*con for 2010. It would have been his 18th year at the helm (excuse the pun). Instead, Star Trek: Voyager actor Garrett Wang is leading the new “Trek Track” programming for Dragon*con. Whereas many would have probably retired, Watts has instead founded his own Star Trek convention, called TrekTrax Atlanta, with the help of his local Star Trek club members and friends.

An Exclusive Interview with Cosplay Singer Reni Mimura
I’ll never forget the first time I saw cosplay singer Reni Mimura. I was at Zenkaikon 2009, a Pennsylvania anime convention, and Reni was busy rehearsing for the con’s opening ceremonies. I cannot say enough about the performance she gave that day. Not to be cliché, but if you looked up “cute” in the dictionary, her picture should be there.

An Interview with Michael Stackpole
If you’re a fan of BattleTech or Star Wars novels, then you’ve no doubt heard of author Michael Stackpole. Since the late 1980s, Stackpole has been an integral part of the BattleTech and Star Wars universes, which is probably why he’s still attending fandom conventions all over the country. In fact, he will be appearing at the upcoming Phoenix ComiCon,

An Exclusive Interview with Russian Cosplayer Lena Litvinova
Every now and again I browse through Cosplay.com looking for cool photos and cosplay. When I came across the Cosplay.com user Ryoko-demon, however, I was completely blown away. Rarely do you see such a stunning collection of cosplay costumes and photos. Even though Ryoko-demon, whose real name is Lena Litvinova, is based all the way over in Russia, she agreed

How Fandom Brings People Together: An Interview with Norm Liddell of the USS Haven
When I lived in Florida, I was fortunate to run into a very sweet couple at a local Star Trek convention. Their names were Norm and Denise, and they were involved in a Star Trek club. The club was called the USS Haven, and it is composed of some of the nicest people I’ve ever had the privilege to know. Norm basically runs the club, but he’s quick to point out that he doesn’t really consider himself “in charge.” He has always told the members that it is their club. His job “has always been to serve [the] Crew.”

First Time Cosplayer Makes Splash at Blizzcon
I have been doing a bit of research on great World of Warcraft (WoW) costumes for an upcoming blog entry. As I was browsing cosplay.com, I came across “Atheana,” who had such a wonderful Blood Elf costume and story to go with it, that I had to feature her here in my blog. “Atheana” is actually a full time college student named Lindsay, who had never attended a single convention before Blizzcon 2008, much less created a costume for one.
