Sogen Con Looking for a Kickstart
SogenCon has been a small anime convention in South Dakota for several years. The con averages around 600 or so people a year. It is run by Otaku Incorporated, a non-profit group. They are having a Kickstarter fundraiser to help cover their costs for this year. They are looking for $15,000 in donations. If they do not receive this amount the con will most likely not happen this year.

Rob Granito Called a Fraud, Banned From Conventions
There’s been a storm of rage gusting through fandom recently, all directed at one Rob Granito. It began last week with a Bleeding Cool article and culminated in a verbal smackdown delivered at MegaCon by the irate Mark Waid and Ethan Van Sciver. Now several conventions, including Wizard World, have dropped Mr. Granito.

A Review of Reni’s Maid Cafe
I have to admit I have been meaning to attend Reni’s Maid and Cosplay Cafe since I first stumbled upon Reni Mimura at Zenkaikon over a year ago, and found out she regularly threw these events at the Village in New York. Since my birthday was coming up and I was looking for something fun to do, I decided to make the trip up from Philadelphia on the Bolt bus and celebrate it with my favorite Japanese idol living in New York and see what her take on the Japanese maid cafe phenomenon would be.

Review: The New Star Trek Movie was Great, but not “OMG! Amazing!”
My friends and I went and saw the new Star Trek movie last night at our local IMAX theater, and I must say, we all thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It really was a pretty well executed, action packed thrill ride of a reboot that the Star Trek franchise needed. However, I’ve seen some other friends of mine raving about how “OMG! Amazing!” it was, and I’m just not there with them. Yes, it was great, but isn’t the best Trek movie out there, and it did have some moments that made my friends and I turn to each other and say “WTF?”

Family Guy’s “Star Trek Episode” Was A Big Disappointment
I’m a huge Star Trek Fan. I’m a huge Family Guy fan. Imagine my delight when I realized that two of my great television show passions were going to have a love child? I really wanted to write an out of this world (excuse the pun) review of the “Star Trek” Family Guy episode. But I was terribly disappointed by Family Guy’s

A Fangirl’s Take on the ‘Fanboys’ Movie
On Saturday, I went and saw the movie Fanboys with my boyfriend, and my friend Bart (who contributed to the Zombification 101 article). Bart actually drove three hours to Philadelphia from Virginia, because our theater in Philly was one of the closest ones showing the movie. I decided the movie was worth reviewing here on the blog, being as conventions
